Running Into Walls

Sadly, God frequently has to give me reality checks. Anytime I go quite awhile without extreme pain I begin to think I’m fully healed. So, I go and do things that used to be normal and boy do I pay for my ignorance. Here I am again feeling like I’ve got a big brick stuck in my lower back. Thank God this ice provides a little bit of relief.

After eight years of this battle you would think I would know my limits. The truth is I just want to be normal. I want to stand when I want to stand and go when I want to go. Part of recovery is learning your new normal. Realizing you’re still blessed, but this weakness is now part of your life. In fact, it impacts every area of your life.

If you deal with chronic pain or a chronic illness. You know how your battle alters your life on a daily basis. Ongoing pain affects us physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually. Fortunately, God’s grace is sufficient and His strength is enough. You have to keep finding reasons to smile whether you’re feeling up or down at the moment. All I know for sure is God keeps helping me scale every wall.

“The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.” Psalm 18:28-29
