That’s Just Pain Speaking

No matter how many times you deal with a certain struggle. You never enjoy being in pain. Even when you know God has used it and is using it. Even when you know it will eventually pass. Even when you know God is in control. Pain has a way of drastically changing your emotions any given moment.

I’ve had an up and down week physically speaking. So, here I am on a Friday night already in the bed. My lower back has really wore me down the past twenty four hours. My legs feel like they won’t quit aching and vibrating. Often, that happens as my spinal cord stimulator works hard to get my nerve pain settled back down.

One thing high level pain does is disrupt your spirit. Nothing feels easy and you can get very frustrated doing anything. Pain can make you think things and say things you don’t mean whenever it overtakes your body. I’ve learned that all I can do is lay down and let God settle me down. There is no substitute for healing rest. Usually, when I wake up I’m much better than the night before. Fortunately, I can sleep in late tomorrow.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
