Accident or Appointment?

Car Wreck
It gets old quickly when your greatest battle is finding comfort in your own skin. However, whether I like it or not 43 years old finds me having to battle for every step forward. I’ve had so many setbacks during my 2 1/2 years of recovery effort. I can either look at those setbacks as accidents or appointments. I’m choosing to look at them as divine appointments.
Now, don’t get me wrong I battle with many human emotions daily. I get mad, sad, and everything in between. But, what good does it do to “what if” things to death? What has happened has happened already. My worrying or questioning everything changes nothing except to escalate my stress level. Therefore, I’m choosing to believe that nothing has happened to me apart from God’s diving allowance.
I’m certain that anyone who’s had experienced something life altering is left to wonder and process it from a human standpoint. Fortunately, time has given me the opportunity to process things from God’s viewpoint. God’s word is full of people who face seeming misfortune and devastating life circumstances. Yet, time and time again we see God’s glory revealed through their weakness. We see their weakness become a huge turning point in their lives and in their testimony of God’s grace at work in their life. I fully believe that God is able to take the good, bad, and ugly in our lives and write a story that brings Him great glory. And, while we may feel life is full of accidents in God’s hands they become divine appointments.
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:” Ecclesiastes 3:1
“And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
